Musical Chairs: Changes in store for live entertainment at local clubs

I'm not sure when this appeared in print, but it bears some comments.

We've talked to Ward about Cowboy Monkey discontinuing live music at the end of the year. Not much new here, except perhaps some clarification on the role of DJs who are, of course, putting live musicians out of work. [Insert snark here.]

The good news is that Zorba's may continue even though Jeff Machota will no longer be booking music for them. I was hesitant to post anything on the situation at Zorba's until we got an official word from the management, and that's good, because there was alot of speculation that the end of the year could be the end for live music there. We'll see.

And kudos to Paul Wirth at the Iron Post for supporting live bands and culture in Urbana.

The bottom line (literally, in the story) is that more people need to get out and support live music, especially jazz, and support the venues that offer live jazz...
